ATL to EDI
Somewhere Over The Atlantic 09/20/2022
Moving Day. As I mentioned before, this trip is two years in the making. Today is embarkation day. Harry and Amanda arrived at our house around 10:30. We loaded our baggage in the Tahoe and headed to Atlanta. Our flight schedule was Atlanta to New York and New York to Edinburgh. We have reservations at the Hilton Carlton Hotel. This hotel was built in the early 1900’s and is on the historical register. We chose this hotel because it is located on the Royal Mile. Easy walking to all the places of interest in Edinburgh proper.
We had an uneventful drive to Atlanta and stopped at the Airport Marriot Hotel and dropped off the Tahoe in their long term parking lot. We got to the airport three hours early and checked in with Delta. After clearing security we went to the Delta Club to eat and wait for our time to board. The Delta agent called for all active duty and retired military to board first, followed by first class passengers. This proved to be a great advantage for us as it allowed us to store our carry-ons before anyone else. Our flight to JFK was two hours and we then had a two hour layover before departing for Scotland. Both flights were on time and the weather was great. The trip over went as planned and was uneventful. Tomorrow, after a good night’s rest, we will be taking a walking tour of Edinburgh. Tomorrow then…..
